Meet Jeff Kessler

Jeff Kessler has spent his life fighting for the people of West Virginia, as an attorney, a legislator, and a leader committed to getting results. Born and raised in a small town in the northern panhandle, he comes from a family defined by hard work, resilience, and service. His grandparents immigrated through Ellis Island and settled in the coal fields, where his grandfather worked in the mines to support his family.

Jeff was the first in his family to attend college, working his way through West Liberty State College before building a successful legal career dedicated to helping people through difficult and often complex challenges.

He went on to serve in the West Virginia State Senate, where he rose to become Senate President, leading the chamber during a critical time for the state.

During his time in office, Jeff helped lead the expansion of Medicaid, bringing affordable healthcare to hundreds of thousands of West Virginians. He also worked to protect consumers, strengthen public institutions, and stand up for working families across the state. He was known for approaching problems with a focus on practical solutions, not politics, and for putting the needs of West Virginians first.

Throughout his career, Jeff has remained grounded in the belief that government should work for everyday people, not just the wealthy and well-connected. Whether in the courtroom or the state capitol, he has focused on solving problems, holding systems accountable, and making a real difference in people’s lives.

Today, Jeff is running to bring that same leadership and experience to the next chapter of West Virginia’s future, focused on lowering costs, expanding opportunity, and ensuring every family has a fair shot.
